FEA Create vs Podia (Spoiler alert I love them both) But which should you choose?

Ok, before we begin, I am equally shocked and delighted that I writing about technology.
I remember times without phones. I remember my Mum’s willingness to set the video recorder (with labelled videos of DO NOT TAPE OVER) to record two Brookside omnibuses whilst on holiday. I thought the fax machine in my Dad’s office must be something from out of space.
But here we are; a 41 year old woman talking about technology because I love technology. I have a digital, ever green business. I can use the internet to make money and create my dream opportunities.
So firstly I want to say I love both and have given lots of money to both platforms.
Having had an online presence for at least 15 years (sorry if you are missed my sepia fish ’n’ chips picture days) I have tried many platforms.
I don’t believe there is one that you can say ‘This is universally good’ — because ‘good’ is subjective. It has to work for you. If it doesn’t, it isn’t going to pay for itself and you are not going to maximise itself benefits.
With this in mind, my first question is what you do need? What do you want your online platform to do? What is its purpose? What is important to you? What are your pet hates? What feels comfortable in terms of a financial commitment? How skilled are you? What would your customers love?
Secondly, where do you see yourself and your brand in a year’s time. Websites take time, effort and money to develop so whilst I am grounded in the present moment, I also have one eye on where I am going and make decisions from that place. This is a fine balance and sometimes this means spending money now and not seeing a direct ROI but strong foundations will deliver later.
Now onto two of my favourites. You can also watch the video below for a more chatty breakdown:
This platform is brilliantly created by someone who had ‘building an online business’ in mind. It is clear that they understand all the moving parts of building an online business and how can they effectively fit together. There is something very satisfying about just logging into one platform and having a 360 view of your whole business.
It is an all in one platform, so one fee. Which if you do the maths (I did) works out so much cheaper. There was a bit of doubt in my mind about whether it was a risk, if something went wrong but their support team are so great, I felt confident to proceed.
It is full customisable. It has full potential to seep all of your individuality into your brand and transform everything into your desired effect.
The customer support is incredible. I know people say ‘There is no such thing as a stupid question’ however I had many that I felt a bit stupid asking. There is zero judgement and plenty of opportunity to share screens on tech calls or ask questions in the facebook community and get a fairly speedy answer. I know it is reasonable to expect 24 hours to go by before you receive a response but if you are in the flow, I know most of us want an almost immediate answer and you get one.
Simple, straightforward- drag and drop. Sometimes you just want to be guided… click here, upload here, add title, press publish. I love how accessible it is. I know many people would love this platform because it is very doable. When you are spinning dozens of other business and life plates this is very pleasing.
The chat box. I had a domain query and it was sorted in 5 minutes. Not just answered, but the domain was fully connected and up and running. Technology stuff may not be your forté so leaning on experts is a glorious thing!
Their customer support emails. They regularly share tips and hints via their emails. They also celebrate ‘you’ which I LOVE — even though I know that sounds a bit needy but I am ok with that. Business can feel hard sometimes, especially when you are doing something which is not in your natural skill set. They notice it all…
Them: You did it, Nicky, you uploaded your course…
Me: Yeah, I did…. smug face
Them: You connected your domain — you are good to go
Me: That f for that also… ok great, now I can do the things I am meant to do…
More in the video…
I am a proud affiliate of both platforms and both offer a free trial.
